SeaWar Sandbox V1 is now available on Android. The free open-sea naval combat sandbox that launched on Windows is now in your pocket. This is the full game, not a cut-down spin-off, ready to download and play on phones and tablets.
The full naval sandbox, now on your phone
This is the same SeaWar Sandbox V1 people have been playing on PC. The same six ships to climb through, the same hand-crafted open sea, the same progression from a raft of broken planks to a warship that owns the horizon, and the same fight all the way up to the Demon Lord. Nothing was stripped out to fit a phone. The controls were rebuilt for touch: tap to select and move, drag to pan the camera, pinch to zoom. It plays like it belongs on a screen you carry with you.
And it is free. No microtransactions, no energy timers, no paywalls, no ads. You download it once, it installs, and it is yours. Naval combat games on mobile are usually built around timers and in-app purchases. SeaWar is the opposite of that on purpose.
How to get it
The Android build is a file you download straight from this site. Open the download page on your phone or tablet, grab the Android version, and open it to install. Because it comes from us directly rather than from a store, Android will ask you to allow the install once. That is normal for apps installed outside the store, and the download page walks you through the exact steps.
Why it is not on Google Play yet
We wanted SeaWar on Google Play from day one. We really did. The honest reason it is not there yet is that Google Play has become very restrictive for new developers, and the requirements take time we simply do not have at the very start.
New personal developer accounts now have to run a long closed testing period with a fixed group of testers over a stretch of days before an app is even allowed to go public. That is a reasonable rule against low-effort spam, but it assumes you already have a crowd of people ready to test for you. We are a brand-new, one-person studio at the very beginning. We do not yet have that pool of testers lined up. Rather than make you wait weeks behind a store gate, we decided to put the finished game in your hands right now, free, as a direct download.
We do want to be on Google Play
This is not us turning our back on the store. We fully intend to bring SeaWar Sandbox V1 to Google Play once we can meet the testing requirements properly. That is where you come in. If you want to help us get there, join the Phalangix Discord (linked in the footer) and let us know. When we organize the testing group that Google Play needs, the people in the Discord will be the first we reach out to. The more of you who raise a hand, the sooner SeaWar can land on the store for everyone.
